Connecticut Small Business Development Center

The Connecticut Small Business Development Center (SBDC) works closely with new and existing small business owners, offering technical assistance, counseling and education. Staffed by professional business development advisors, the SBDC network operates seven full-time statewide offices, ensuring access to services for the entire Connecticut small business community.

Connecticut Retail Merchants Association

The Connecticut Retail Merchants Association (CRMA) has been representing retailers at the State Capitol and in the marketplace since 1910. CRMA’s professional government relations specialists have extensive experience lobbying for retail rights. CRMA negotiates better rates for members, leading to reduced costs for individual retailers.

MetroHartford Alliance

The MetroHartford Alliance brings together nearly 1,000 businesses, education and healthcare institutions, nonprofit organizations and government leaders who are invested in the region’s future economic growth and its viability for business development. The Alliance also helps local companies expand and develops programs for young professionals.

The Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development is focused on strengthening the state’s competitive position in the new economy and solidifying the state’s reputation as a high-tech leader in innovation and productivity.  The Department is the state's lead agency for the development and implementation of policies and programs that support business growth.

Connecticut Business and Industry Association

The Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) is the largest business organization in the state. Members include businesses of all sizes from nearly every industry in Connecticut. CBIA is the leading voice at the State Capitol and before regulatory agencies for policies that promote economic growth, a fiscally responsible state government and a dynamic business climate.

Women Presidents' Educational Organization

The Women Presidents’ Educational Organization (WPEO) focuses on offering increased access to business opportunities for women business owners and entrepreneurs. The organization’s helps women develop skills and knowledge, advocates in the public and private sectors, foster relationships between members, corporations and the government, and provides certification services.

Permanent Commission on the Status of Women

The Permanent Commission on the Status of Women was formed to improve economic security, health and safety. The Commission promotes the consideration of qualified women to leadership positions and works to eliminate discrimination. As a non-partisan arm of the General Assembly, the Commission critiques and recommends changes to relevant legislation.

University of Hartford Entrepreneurial Center

The Entrepreneurial Center of the University of Hartford assists aspiring and current business owners with self-assessment, access to capital, financial education and business plan development.  Experienced small business owners and resource partners provide business guidance, resulting in immediate and long-term impact on the development of both owner and business.

Office of Veterans Affairs

The Connecticut Department of Veterans’ Affairs assess issues and develops resources for veterans as they re-enter the workforce. The Department furnishes information, counsels and provides assistance regarding provisions of federal, state and local laws, affording financial rights, privileges and benefits to the military personnel of Connecticut.

African American Affairs Commission

The mission of the African-American Affairs Commission (AAAC) is to improve and promote the economic development, education, health and political well being of the African-American community in the State of Connecticut. The AAAC works with the Legislature and the general public to provide data and information to help guide and formulate policy and improve quality of life.

CT Technology Council

The Connecticut Technology Council is a statewide association of technology companies and institutions that provide leadership in areas of policy advocacy, community building and company growth. Speaking for over 2,000 companies that employ some 200,000 residents, the Tech Council provides a strong voice in support of the creation of a culture of innovation.

Business for Downtown Hartford

Business for Downtown Hartford (BFDH) is a nonprofit merchant and business group dedicated to the success of Hartford’s central business district. BFDH’s primary initiative is to create and maintain a vibrant business environment for downtown Hartford. The group also develops programs and advocates for the success of all businesses in the downtown area.

Business Council of Fairfield County

The Business Council of Fairfield County is a nationally recognized, nonprofit corporation headquartered in Stamford. The Business Council’s membership includes more than 230 corporations, 40 non-profit institutions and 1,700 professional and affiliates members. It also serves as a catalyst for private sector involvement in public policy.

Latino and Puerto Rican Affairs Commission

The Latino and Puerto Rican Affairs Commission (LPRAC) is a non-partisan commission mandated to make recommendations to the CGA and the Governor for new or enhanced policies that foster progress in achieving health, safety, educational success and economic self-sufficiency.  LPRAC also works to end discrimination in the state of Connecticut.

Connecticut Restaurant Association

The Connecticut Restaurant Association has played a vital part in the state’s hospitality industry since 1973. The Association serves as the sole voice of Connecticut’s restaurants in advocacy, education and awareness.  From startups to large chains, the CRA helps make restaurants better for Connecticut and Connecticut a better place for restaurants to do business.

Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce

The Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce provides leadership in marshalling the physical, economic, and human resources of the south central Connecticut region. The Chamber seeks to effectively develop New Haven and the surrounding areas into a favorable place to operate a business and create a home.

Association of Small Business Development Centers

ASBDC is the national representative of America's Small Business Development Center Network. The Small Business Development Center program is the most comprehensive small business assistance network in the nation. SBDC delivers free educational assistance to strengthen business management, which contributes to the growth of local, state and national economies.

SCORE

SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to educating entrepreneurs and helping small businesses. SCORE’s 13,000+ volunteers work closely with entrepreneurs to help them get the information they need, absolutely free. SCORE is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration and has been mentoring entrepreneurs for more than forty years.
